Launching a BIG new brand across the nation!

In early 2016, we were approached by Austen Trading, the UK’s biggest independent commercial vehicle dealer, to discuss options for a complete rebrand for the business. The firm was to become Big Van World, and its new branding and relaunch campaign needed to reflect the national scale of the business, which had grown to over 600 vehicles in stock since starting in 2002 with just a few vans on sale.

The Branding

We worked to apply a strong set of attention-grabbing brand colours, elements and styles to guidelines for use across the new website build, social media profiles and all other marketing collateral, extending the styling within Big Van World’s existing new logo. It had to be bright and bold, and most importantly, BIG!

What’s more, as major sponsors of the Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki World Championship Motocross team Dixon Racing and star rider, Tommy Searle, the brand style needed to be flexible and adaptable to make full use of the advertising space available through. The branding had to be dynamic and impactful in a range of applications, such as social media, weekend motocross programmes and stadium advertisement hoardings.

Marketing Plan & Launch

Due to the size of the rebrand and its impact on business operations, it was essential that the marketing plan and launch was coordinated with due diligence to ensure that the brand was projecting the right image via the right channels, be that social media, radio advertisements or public relations, attracting as much attention as possible. We helped to utilise and develop the relationship between Heart Radio and Big Van World, putting into place teaser and launch campaigns for the new brand.

Acquiring the @bigvanworld social media profiles was a difficult but essential to projecting professionalism and brand strength across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram respectively. The launch also required developing a wide range of graphics for the dealership, its site and the surrounding area, which was completed on time and to budget.

On May 19th 2016, Big Van World was successfully launched, following a range of teaser campaigns across regional radio stations, social media channels and press releases.

The Results

With an ever expanding forecourt and a strong, established brand presence both online and offline, Big Van World is continuing to lead the way as the UK’s biggest independent van dealer. They now have an active marketing function, ensuring that the most is made out of the major motocross world championship sponsorship arrangements and regional radio campaigns, which help drive the brand’s social media presence forward.
