Brandon Trust is a registered charity, providing care and support for children, young people and adults with a learning disability and/or autism. They have a range of services including supported living, short breaks, children’s play schemes and accommodation with nursing and support.
The Trust also wanted to encourage people to work with them, through fundraising, co-production and consultancy projects, and recruitment, so it was also important to provide relevant and accessible information to every stakeholder in order to encourage engagement.
Finding that their previous website was no longer fit for purpose and did not effectively tell the charity’s story or promote the incredible support on offer, they came to Squarebird for the solution.
The delivery
Due to the nature of the charity, it was crucial that the new website was easy to use and accessible to all. Squarebird worked closely with the team at Brandon Trust to ensure every need was catered for, designing and building the new website to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standard as minimum.
Each page of the website can be edited by the user, to increase the text size, lighten or darken the background colour, and underline all links. There is also an option to have the page be read aloud, meaning those with visual impairment or learning difficulties can still access all the information.
The backend of the website has been built with client management at the forefront, ensuring the Trust can manage and update their new website as they see fit.

The result.
The charity hope that with this new website, the support on offer will reach a wider group of people, and act as a recruitment platform for new employees and volunteers.
