Celebrating 10 Years of Squarebird

Celebrating 10 Years of Squarebird

It’s our tenth anniversary in May 2025, and the team at Squarebird are celebrating this achievement with a year of challenges, goals, and reflection on the journey so far. Between taking on bigger projects, growing our team, and engaging in both charity and community, we’re more excited than ever about what’s to come.

How we’ve evolved over the years

10 years ago, the idea for Squarebird was hatched by brothers Nick and Jon with a pair of dusty old laptops, £100 in a joint business account, and an aspiration to make something great.

In our early years, we took on a wide range of jobs, from print to content marketing and web design. As time went by, we refined our offering while building our trust among a range of close clientele.

Evolving as a business meant focusing on what services we should offer. Through acquiring talents in web design, development, and marketing – many of which are still with us to this day – we grew into the business we are now: a full-stack web agency.

Now, we offer clients quality services for web design, development, and marketing, along with peripheral services like web hosting, copywriting, and social media support. Our list of retained clients has only continued to expand, empowered by our mantra of “We Grow Together”.

Looking to the future, we hope to continue our rapid rate of grow, acquiring new talents from the Nailsea and Bristol area to retain our heritage as we look to the wider world for new and exciting projects.

Ten goals for ten years

Part of our celebration involves giving not just our team, but the community around us some extra love and attention. We put together a list of ten goals for the year, from acts of charity to internal festivities, to help make this the best year in our ten-year history.

Here’s a breakdown of our ten goals:

  1. Raising £10,000 for charity. Our headline act for the year is to raise £10k through various fundraisers, events, and internal contributions. We’ve chosen to work with a local charity, Children’s Hospice South West, who do a lot of really important work in taking care of and providing opportunities for children with life-limiting conditions.
  2. The Three Peaks Challenge. Tackling the three peaks is no small task, as even the logistics of getting from one spot to the next proves to be a challenge. However, we plan on bringing as many of our team as possible up these three mountains within a 24-hour period, and raising money for charity while we do so!
  3. Donating a website project. This won’t be our first time donating a website project, as we’ve given away several websites and heavy discounts to some great local causes. We aim to add another one to our belt and help a local initiative achieve success through a high-quality website development.
  4. Plant more trees than ever before. Sustainability is on our mind, and we’ve made it one of our goals to plant more trees than the last 10 years combined, in 2025 alone, breathing some fresh life into our year’s initiatives.
  5. Throw a 10th birthday party! It’s not all serious, in work and in play, and we’re going to take this opportunity to let loose with a Squarebird bash like there’s never been before.
  6. Sponsor a local festival or sports team. We’re always a fan of our local clubs and events, and this year is no different. Alongside our other commitments, we plan to sponsor a local festival or sports team to help get them up and running (no pun intended).
  7. Provide our team with experience days. Another one of our goals is to give our team the opportunity to engage in some group experience days. This will help broaden our horizon, and provide a fun activity that really reflects the great company culture we’ve cultivated.
  8. Hold a summer cake sale. As part of our charity work, and to get involved with the community (and more secretly to eat any leftovers), we’re going to be holding a summer cake sale, turning our Nailsea premises into a Bonafide bakery. The proceeds will go to charity, helping out with our other goals.
  9. Offer 10 students a place on a work experience week. Helping young people find opportunities and gain skills is invaluable to putting them on the path for a successful future, so we aim to help as many people as we can find places in industries of their choosing.
  10. Win an award. The cherry on top of the last 10 years would be an award to call our crowning achievement. We’re already flying towards this goal, making the shortlist for the Bristol Life Awards.

Shortlisted for the Bristol Life Awards!

As part of our celebrations, we submitted an entry to the Bristol Life Awards – a prestigious event that triumphs businesses in the Bristol area. We were lucky enough to make it onto their shortlist, and are looking forward to attending the event on March 20th. Watch this space, as we’ll be sure to kick up a fuss if we win!

Be part of Squarebird’s future

A huge part of our success has been the clients we work with, and the people that have joined our team. Without our clients returning to us for repeat business and using our quality offerings for their digital media, it would have taken us a lot longer to get to where we are now. And our wonderful in-house team, whose skills have developed alongside us, have continued to provide these clients with top-notch service and outputs driven by industry-leading expertise.

If you’re interested in any of our range of services, get in touch today! Or, check out our careers page if you’re looking for an opportunity at Squarebird. Now is the best time to get involved – we’re looking forward to what the future will hold!
