Squarebird Responsibility

Squarebird Responsibility

Living our purpose every day.

That’s the Squarebird family way.

We strive to look after the people around us by creating opportunities for businesses and reducing our impact on the environment and our local community. Change really does start at home.

For us, being responsible is all about three key things:

  • Finding local talent
  • Helping people realise their potential
  • Operating sustainably

… and packaging all of this talent to support the digital marketing needs of organisations both local and global.

A happy team = happy clients.

So, how do we do it?

We’re a recognised local brand with a team eager to give back, so we’re always taking part in events and fundraisers, particularly in our hometown. From charity rugby matches to mega walks, we love to roll up our sleeves and get involved.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, our team launched the 300km for 300 Kids Challenge, raising over £4,000 for Nailsea Community Group to help ensure that no local child went hungry over the tough Christmas period of 2020.

More recently, we took part in Wrong Trousers Day for The Grand Appeal and offered the public a unique photo-op with our iconic Cath Kidston Paradise Bunch Shaun the Sheep. Altogether, we raised £500 in support of Bristol Children’s Hospital – a vital and lifesaving institution.

We’re making continuous efforts to reduce our impact on the environment by attempting to operate in a carbon neutral manner. That means striving to remove more carbon dioxide from the planet’s atmosphere than we’re creating, and minimising our impact on the environment in every way we can.

At Squarebird, we love cycling! We’ve installed showers and secure bicycle storage to incentivise eco-friendly commuting. We also sponsor the planting and protection of trees in and around our local area with The Woodland Trust.

On top of all this, we’re acting globally through a Verified Carbon Standard certified carbon reduction programme in Kenya as part of a Reforestation Programme, guaranteeing emission reductions.

Supporting our hometown makes us happy, which is why we’re a headline sponsor of the Nailsea & Backwell Beer and Cider Festival. This event brings our community together every summer and raises money for local charities such as Children’s Hospice South West.

We’re also football fans, and proudly sponsor Nailsea & Tickenham Football Club and Nailsea Junior Football Club. As well as this, we fund scholarships for underprivileged local children to attend half-term football camps with Priority Football.

When searching for talent, we look close to home. Our training and development opportunities are designed to help our team thrive. Since 2016, we’ve trained a Web Development Apprentice to become a Lead Developer, and a Digital Marketing Apprentice to a Lead Technical SEO. The success of our team and the success of our business go hand in hand.

At Squarebird, we grow together. We look for work ethic first and skills second, and we’re keen to promote from within in every way we can. There are no jobs at Squarebird, only careers.

We foster an inclusive work environment and train our team to help each other succeed and value everyone’s unique talents, contributions, and ambitions.
It’s this culture that underpins everything we do, providing the conditions necessary for our team to innovate, challenge norms, and deliver trailblazing creative work.

What makes a good stakeholder relationship? Openness, honesty, integrity, and trust. We embrace and honour the trust our community puts in us to maintain secure, effective, and high-performing digital platforms for our clients.

We strive every day to operate ethically and to contribute to society as a socially and environmentally responsible business.
