Bringing the joy of food to life.Back
The BART Ingredients Company is one of the biggest herb and spice manufacturers in the UK and a member of the Fuchs Gruppe – the world’s largest private spice company. They needed a slick new corporate website which would support their B2B endeavours, recruitment, and career development, while still showcasing their sustainability efforts.
As Bristol’s leading Design and Marketing Agency, Squarebird were in the perfect spot to meet their every need. We pitched our ideas and services, and once they were hooked, we moved on to further discussions to really bring out the flavours of their personality.
A recipe for success.
The discovery phase. This involved them learning about us, but also us learning about them – we already knew them as the spice, herb, and ingredients giant that they are, so what we needed were the site’s requirements. This included functionality, the sitemap, visual elements, and photography.
We also undertook several separate discovery meetings to understand the scope and technicalities of the site’s written content with regards to new product development, food safety, and efforts in sustainability.
A crucial element was keeping the style in line with the Fuchs Gruppe brand, which we touched upon to manage how BART Ingredients Co. would be perceived and aligned with their parent company. We also discussed the importance of retaining their heritage and the BART Ingredients company story – from a husband-and-wife pair, to one of the UK’s largest herb and spice ingredients manufacturers.
Spicing up the design.
After we’d boiled down the brief, refining it to its core ingredients, we started style tile design. We presented two visual options, both in-keeping with the Fuchs Gruppe brand while allowing BART to have their own brand identity.
From there, we worked with BART Ingredients to build upon their existing brand, finalising the style and moved into the desktop and mobile page designs. During this time, we were simultaneously working on creating all the written content for the site.
We also put into action the fresh photography to showcase their offerings, taking all new photos of their two warehouse facilities, the development kitchen, their office spaces, logistics areas, and the team itself – adding some seasoning to their site.
Once we’d agreed upon the content, designs, and images, the next step was to put it all together. We developed the website as per the specification, creating a slick end-user experience that clearly showcased the BART ingredients offering to businesses. This included informational sections on the food and beverage spaces, as well as for the recruitment of potential new employees.
“Our challenge was to produce an eye-catching, professional website that complimented the established Fuchs Gruppe branding. My goal from the outset was to dissect the brand guidelines and improve and freshen the brand, pushing it into the modern era.
The client said we nailed the creative brief and achieved exactly what they were looking for – a design which challenged their existing brand feel but is noticeably part of the same family when BART and Fuchs Gruppe are sat alongside one another.” – Al, Lead Designer
A navigable and easy to use website that ensures a seamless experience for clients and inquiries. The back end provides smooth management moving forward, and the website clearly showcases the BART Ingredients offering while aligning with the parent company Fuchs Gruppe.

We worked with Squarebird to launch a new corporate website for The Bart Ingredients Company during the rebranding of our business. From day one, Squarebird were friendly, informative and responsive. Throughout the whole project our project manager Ben communicated with us brilliantly and the whole team at Bart felt like we were being listened to and our vision was being bought to life by the whole team.
The website that Squarebird have produced exceeded our expectations and allows us to show off our expertise as a food manufacturer in a professional and elegant way. We could not recommend them enough.
